What would you do if you found Anne Frank living in your attic in the 21st century? – San Diego Jewish Film Festival Catalogue.
What an experience and honor it was to share our film with about 115 people on February 13th at Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18! Thank you SO much for first selecting our film and to the teens for making it their final choice as part of the 28th Annual San Diego Jewish Film Festival ❤ Especially along with the other outstanding and award winning films you were presenting.
Co-Star Sara Wolfkind & Director Matt Sivertson on KUSI News
When the San Diego Jewish Film Festival’s Chair Christina L. Fink contacted Matt to let us know that we could go on KUSI News a few days prior the screening to talk about Love All You Have Left, I put my Executive Producer hat on and told Matt, go with our star Sara! Sara Wolfkind is such a talented and hard working actress (she portrays Anne Frank in our film), she’d do great! They both rocked and I enjoyed watching them on TV. Here is a bit of the interview in which Matt expresses his fulfillment in directing us and in which the Festival Chair Christina L. Fink talks about what she thinks of Love All You Have Left (full interview available here).
Screening on February 13th (6-9pm)
We discovered that the teenagers who had rsvp’d for the screening had actually quite an event put on for them that night! Pizza next door prior our screening, a preview, and our film! The audience was composed of 9th-12th graders and it was almost a full house!
We greeted them as they entered the cinema #13, they said thank you as we gave a little postcard/keepsake regarding Love All You Have Left.
We enjoyed to hear a short presentation about Jitli (Gary and Jerri-Ann Jacobs International Teen Leadership Institute) as a preview as well. It seems like love is being spread!
Questions & Answers
After the screening came the Q&A, and we had very well thought questions asked:
For Anne Frank (portrayed by Sara Wolfkind) how she prepared for the part and for Juliette (the character I portrayed) since it’s a very emotional part where did I get the inspiration from.
Both Sara and I pointed to how well written the script was and how it puts your heart and performance straight to where you are supposed to be as an actor and how being co-stars has been feeding each other. Also, Sara had played Anne Frank in the Diary of Anne Frank before and Matt recommended for her to read a biography as well as the diary which she already had of course. She is so studious ❤
For Matt, how we shot the film and what was the most difficult part for him to work on. We told them that we were never more than 6 people on location and we also mentioned that we co-produced with Halo Cinematic based in San Diego. Also, Matt was asked if he played my husband in the film as well. Nope, Jeff was portrayed by actor Michael Shantz. Ahah!
It was very sweet as members of the audience asked to take photos with us afterwards and kept asking questions.

Quelle expérience et quel honneur de partager notre film avec plus de 115 personnes ce 13 février dernier aux Cinémas Edwards ! Un tout grand merci pour avoir sélectionné notre film ainsi qu’au comité d’adolescents pour l’avoir choisi parmi d’autres films pour la projection qui leur était réservée dans le cadre du 28e Festival annuel du film juif de San Diego ❤ Particulièrement avec toute la belle selection de films reconnus qui ont été diffusés.

Lorsque Christina L. Fink, la présidente du Festival du film juif de San Diego a contacté Matt pour nous faire savoir que nous pouvions passer à la télévision sur KUSI News quelques jours avant la projection du 13 février pour parler de Love All You Have Left , j’ai mis mon chapeau de productrice exécutive et j’ai dit à Matt : Vas-y avec notre star Sara ! Sara Wolfkind est une actrice très appliquée (elle incarne Anne Frank dans notre film), elle sera super ! Voici un court passage de l’interview dans lequel Matt exprime sa satisfaction en tant qu’auteur et metteur en scène et dans lequel la présidente du festival parle de ce qu’elle pense du film (interview complète disponible ici).
La projection du 13 février (de 18h à 21h)
Nous avons découvert que les adolescents qui s’étaient inscrits à la diffusion avaient un événement organisé rien pour eux cette soirée-là ! Pizza dans un restaurant à deux pas du cinéma, une brève présentation sur Jitli (Institut international de leadership de Gary et Jerri-Ann Jacobs pour les jeunes ) et notre film ! Le public était composé d’étudiants de 9e-12e année (13 à 17ans) et la salle était presque à son comble !
Nous les avons accueillis alors qu’ils se dirigeaient vers le cinéma, ils nous ont remercié car nous leur avons remis une petite carte postale / un souvenir symbolique au film.
Questions et réponses
Après la projection, il était l’heure des questions et réponses. Celles-ci étaient très réfléchies :
Pour Anne Frank (interprétée par Sara Wolfkind) comment Sara s’est préparée pour le rôle et pour Juliette (le personnage que j’ai interprété) puisque c’est un rôle très émotionnelle ce qui m’a inspiré.
Sara et moi-même avons souligné à quel point le scénario était bien écrit. Ce qui va droit au cœur lorsque c’est le cas. Car tout est ressenti et rien n’est forcé. Le fait d’être co-stars étaient un cadeau pour nos jeux d’actrices respectifs. De plus, Sara avait déjà joué Anne Frank au théâtre dans Le journal d’Anne Frank. Matt lui avait recommandé de lire une biographie ainsi que le journal qu’elle avait déjà lu bien sûr. Elle est si studieuse ❤
Pour Matt, comment nous avons tourné le film et quelle avait été la partie la plus difficile à réaliser. Nous leur avons dit que nous n’étions jamais plus de 6 personnes sur place et nous avons également mentionné que nous l’avons co-produit avec le studio Halo Cinematic basé à San Diego. On a aussi demandé à Matt s’il avait interprété le rôle de mon mari dans le film. Non, Jeff a été interprété par l’acteur Michael Shantz. Ah ah!
C’était touchant car les jeunes membres du public ont demandé à prendre des photos avec nous ensuite tout en continuant à nous poser des questions.
