🇬🇧Well, go away and the USA will grow fonder of you! As we were abroad visiting family and friends in Europe back in June, I got contacted following a referral to audition for a few projects. And after auditioning, I got call backs, a Zoom meeting…I said to the producers and director when they were apologizing for requesting an audition tape while I was on vacation: “Hey, this is what I do!” Yes, for flexibility, technology, and a plain white wall! And let’s admit it: To not give a damn! As a result, I was fortunate to book an immersive theatre gig at Comic Con this year for “Interview With The Vampire”. Yes, Anne Rice’s world!

I thrive for this full circle type of work, it keeps you sharp! I mean ideally I’ll be on the show some day but anyway I find the 1st season very neat and it was amazing to see so many fans being excited to experience the Immortal Universe through a fantastic set they built for “Story Ville”. The fans got to walk the Street of Immortality where many performers where interacting with them. Immersive theatre is like theatre but you break the fourth wall while staying in character, bien sûr !

I was considering this job a promotional theatre performance as my character in fact was a Theatre Rep from the “Théâtre des Vampires” and it was being performed on a “street”, like street theater. 

It’s demanding work, you are on your feet all day long and you see thousands of people. It’s about managing your voice, hydration, and stretching. And of course loving what you do in character! I absolutely loved the fans!

Comic Con International 2023

The Immortal Universe that was created for this live activation was absolutely amazing! We were in “New Orleans”! And I had been to New Orleans through my travel hosting gigs with Visit The USA – and the first time when I was a Community Relations Rep for the video game company Sony Online Entertainment – it feels right at home for me…Perhaps it comes from my creole origins from my maternal grandfather’s side…who knows?! Aaah…Blood memory! 

So we were set on the Street of Immortality in the 30’s and fans could only be at awe with all they could experience from the speakeasy to the brothel to the interactions with a witch to listening to live jazz music performed on a piano with a singer singing “Come to Me”. I’m realizing how weird it must read if you don’t know the show on AMC! As for my part..My “assistant Émile” and I were the finale of the street announcing what was coming next for Season 2 of “Interview with The Vampire”. My name was Colette – The Theatre Rep from “Théâtre des vampires”…So if you’d like to know more: “We live up to our name! On our stage you’ll see something that you’ve never seen here in America…Something very exciting! Shocking!…Avant-garde ! Come find us in Paris and promise me you’ll come to us to see our show! I can promise you to give you a backstage tour! “

Looking Forward

The TV/Film world seems to be working things out, especially with the studios nowadays for some very on point topics. I support the Unions concerns. I even think it’s a matter of passing a law to protect everyone’s interests artists or non artists.

Fortunately, there are still things we can work on as actors while waiting for an agreement to be met.

I was fortunate to meet for the second time with Aqua Talent Agency with whom I had a first meeting in 2020 for Theatrical representation and I’m now the client of Courtney Peldon! I’m very excited.

I took part of All City Auditions in San Diego, it is part of the San Diego Performing Arts League, a non profit organisation that supports local artists. I performed two monologues: One called “Kiss” by Steven Korbar – I’m an absolute fan of his work (Old Aquatics Play and inspired by Film) and one from the indie film Sideways, a monologue talking about the life of wine. It’s on point as my husband and I were in Châteauneuf du Pape while in France wine tasting and also it reminds me a lot of my childhood too, harvesting at my small family vineyard in Switzerland.

What’s next?

I’m so glad to have been cast in a comedy play. We are now at rehearsal with a wonderful cast for “The Red Lamp” by playwright Hilliard Booth, directed by Jennie Hamilton. I’ll be portraying the role of Annie O’Shane (originally based on my back story her real name is: Anne Levy) a maid who happens to be French! The play is set in New York City in the 50’s.  Loin des yeux, près du cÅ“ur !

🇫🇷Eh bien, partez et les États-Unis vous aimeront davantage ! Lorsque nous étions à l’étranger en juin dernier pour rendre visite à ma famille et à des amis en Europe, j’ai été contactée pour passer des auditions pour quelques projets. Suite à cela, j’ai eu des “rappels”, une réunion Zoom…Pour l’une d’entre elles, les producteurs et le réalisateur s’excusaient de me déranger pendant mes vacances : “Je leur ai dit : Vraiment il n’y a pas de quoi, c’est ce que je fais !” Hourra, pour la flexibilité, la technologie et les murs blancs ! Et avouons-le : D’être dans un esprit vacances décontracté ou rien vraiment n’a d’importance ! Du coup, j’ai eu la chance de décrocher un job théâtral immersif pour Comic Con International 2023 et ce, pour “Interview With The Vampire”. Oui, le monde d’Anne Rice !

J’adore ce type de travail complet, cela permet de rester alerte ! Idéalement, je ferai partie du casting de cette série un jour, sa 1ère saison sur AMC est très soignée. C’était incroyable de voir autant de fans excités à l’idée de découvrir l’univers immortel d’Anne Rice à travers un décor fantastique qui a été construit pour cet événement intitulé “Story Ville”. Les fans ont pu se languiner dans la rue de l’immortalité où de nombreux artistes interagissaient avec eux. Le théâtre immersif c’est comme le théâtre mais on brise le quatrième mur tout en restant dans son personnage, bien sûr !

Je considérais ce travail comme une représentation théâtrale promotionnelle car mon personnage était en fait une représentante du “Théâtre des Vampires”. C’était un peu comme du théâtre de rue.

C’est un travail exigeant, vous êtes debout toute la journée et vous voyez des milliers de personnes. Il s’agit de gérer votre voix, votre hydratation et vos étirements. Et bien sûr, d’aimer ce que vous faites le tout dans la peau du personnage incarné ! J’ai vraiment adoré les fans !

Comic Con International 2023

L’univers immortel qui a été créé pour cette activation était absolument incroyable ! Nous étions à la « Nouvelle-Orléans Â» ! Je m’y étais déjà rendue lors des tournages de capsules de voyage avec Visit The USA – et il y a fort longtemps et la toute première fois alors que j’étais représentante des relations communautaires pour la société de jeux vidéo Sony Online Entertainment. Autant dire que je m’y sens comme chez moi … Peut-être que ça vient de mes origines créoles, du côté de mon grand-père maternel…qui sait ?! Aaah… La mémoire du sang !

Nous étions donc tous installés dans la rue de l’immortalité et ce, dans les années 30, les fans ne pouvaient qu’être impressionnés par tout ce qu’ils pouvaient y vivre; du bar clandestin au bordel, un arrêt auprès d’un dessinateur au fusain, tout en passant par des interactions avec une sorcière. Le tout en écoutant de la musique jazz jouée au piano avec une chanteuse qui interprétait “Come to Me”. Je me rends compte à quel point ça doit être bizarre de lire cette description si on ne connaît pas la série sur la chaîne AMC ! Pour ma part..Mon “assistant Émile” et moi étions le final de la rue annonçant ce qui allait arriver dans la saison 2 de “Entretien avec un vampire”. Je m’appelais Colette – La représentante du “Théâtre des vampires”… Alors si vous voulez en savoir plus : “Nous sommes à la hauteur de notre nom ! Sur nos planches, vous verrez quelque chose que vous n’avez jamais vu ici en Amérique…Quelque chose de très excitant ! Choquant !…Avant-garde ! Aller de l’avant

Le monde de la télévision et du cinéma semblent être en pleine négociation avec les studios de nos jours pour certains sujets qui sont plutôt concernants. Je partage les préoccupations et le combat des syndicats. Je pense même qu’il s’agit d’une question de loi afin de protéger les intérêts de chacun, artiste ou pas. Tout va tellement vite !

Heureusement, il y a encore des choses sur lesquelles nous pouvons travailler en tant qu’acteur en attendant qu’un accord soit trouvé.

J’ai eu la chance de rencontrer pour la deuxième fois Aqua Talent Agency avec qui j’avais eu une première prise de contact en 2020 pour une représentation théâtrale. Je suis maintenant la cliente de l’agence et sous l’aile de Courtney Peldon ! Je suis trop contente !

C’est dans le coeur du sujet puisque mon mari et moi étions dans la région de Châteauneuf du Pape en France et de plus, cela me rappelle aussi beaucoup mon enfance particulièrement les vendanges dans le petit vignoble familial en Suisse.

J’ai obtenu un rôle dans une comédie. Nous sommes maintenant en pleine répétition pour “The Red Lamp” du dramaturge Hilliard Booth, mis en scène par Jennie Hamilton. Je jouerai le rôle d’Annie O’Shane (à l’origine son vrai nom est : Anne Levy. Bon ça c’est ma back story) une soubrette ! La pièce se déroule à New York dans les années 50.
